RappSoDie – Brine, Sports & Family Bath
The RappSoDie mineral bath in Bad Rappenau is being renewed after more than five decades of operation. While the sauna landscape remains, a new building will host a threefold program: a sports and family pool, a brine bath, and an expanded wellness area.
The design emphasizes sustainability in line with Baden-Württemberg’s N!BBW standards. Energy efficiency, recyclable materials, acoustics, and indoor climate are addressed holistically, with life-cycle costs considered from the earliest design stages.
Planned as a hybrid timber structure, the building combines a concrete base and core with prefabricated timber walls and roof modules, ensuring durability and reduced environmental impact. The connection to the Saline 1822 Hotel and a shared gastronomy concept strengthen the site’s identity, while preserved elements of the existing sauna are integrated into the new complex.
During construction, the sauna will remain in operation, with the project beginning through a new entrance that anchors the future bath in its urban and natural setting.
